Part 11 - Consistent Colour and Preparing Photos for the Web

June 2005 Magazine

When preparing an image for the web it is important that an “sRGB” ICC colour profile is embedded in the image and that you don’t “lose” it along the during the image manipulation process. If you don’t include a profile the image will have weaker colour when it is displayed. The image below demonstrates this. Move your mouse over the image to see the “with” and “without” difference. The image itself is exactly the same in both cases. The difference is that one contains an sRGB colour profile and the other does not. The magazine article explains the important steps in the editing process.
